La Fiesta Sound System @ Slip Inn

Hi Everyone

This last month has been really hectic and I promise to post more photos up as soon as I can, including a couple of new engagement shoots, some portraits shoots and a Trash the Dress shoot which was breathtaking!

For the moment I want to include some photos I took of La Feista Sound System who played at the Slip Inn recently. This is going back to the good old days of photographing musicians and djs, it was great to be back shooting this kind of work again. Ok I still had my camera on me but it didn't feel like work listening to these guys!

How can I sum this band up in two words.. Absolutely Brilliant? Talented Entertainers? Quality Performance? Sensational Music?  ... Two words just isn't enough to describe the brilliance of this group and their music.

La Feista are completely passionate and professional about what they do. There's drums, percussion, saxophone, a DJ and an amazing female vocalist. They had the dance floor jumping and wanting more at the end of the night. I can go on and on about how good they were, but take my word for it, go see them for yourselves the next time they play they are absolutely worth it.

Good news too as they are also available for weddings and private functions. Take a look at their website for more information www.qcent.com.au

Sandra and Dave's Wedding

So, the big day finally arrived for Sandra and Dave to be married, and what a huge day it was!!

12 in the bridal party and it was non stop right from the start. From the moment the boys arrived at Eden Gardens, I knew the day would be full of fun, action and laughs. I had a great time capturing these two wonderful people, along with their friends and family.

Sandra looked absolutely amazing. Her dress was simply stunning. Can you believe that she's happy to do a "Trash the Dress" photo shoot!! I'm so excited and I can hardly wait until she comes back from her honeymoon to shoot this.

The thought and originality Sandra put into the day made it all the more special. Their vows to each other put lots of smiles on people's faces. Rob the drummer led the people from the ceremony to the reception which was a great way to start the party. Dave's only job was to book the band which was the Martini Club and it was a great move, as they just blew me away with their funky sounds and kept the dance floor jumping till the end. This pair know what it takes to put on a party that's for sure.

Afterwards we jumped into the car and headed into the city for some photos at Hyde Park, which is one of my favourite spots in Sydney. Thanks for a great day and for having me as your photographer...
I'm still sorting through thousands of photos, but I just randomly picked out a selection for you to view.

Baby Conner

It was only last January that I photographed the lovely couple, Megan and Gary at their wedding on Balmoral beach, so I was excited and honored that they asked me to photograph their beautiful new baby boy, Conner.

I love newborn babies. The way they look and their vulnerability just melts me.  Conner is even more special, as he was nearly 2 months premature and just couldn’t wait any longer to be in this world with his Mummy and Daddy. His features were so much more delicate and smaller than most newborns.

When I first met Conner (he was already 5 weeks) I thought to myself, wow, what a tiny little bub, I hope I don’t break him!! You can’t help feeling this at first. I soon got used to his delicate size quickly once we started photographing him. He was actually a lot stronger than he looked! I suggested to Gary to lift Conner above his head for one of the shots. My husband had to walk away, as he couldn’t bear to watch and made a comment “The Lion King” somewhere in his sentence!! I had to laugh, but I was confident in Gary and they were confident in me to get the shot I was after and the photo turned out beautifully.

Thanks again Megan and Gary, it was an absolute pleasure to meet your little boy and to see you both looking so well and happy.

Happy New Year and welcome back!

Hi Everyone!

Happy 2010!

I hope you had some well deserved time off. I'm finally back in business after a nice break with Matt and Alexis. Thought I'd start the new year off with some photos of Alexis from when we were on holidays. I didn't dare take her outside in the hot sun, so we stayed nice and cool indoors. In the second picture she is demonstrating how adorable one of the many baby props Santa gave to us over Christmas. There's many more adorable props I'm keen to try out as well. As Matt loves his music, I thought his headphones would make timeless photographs. She's certainly Daddy's girl!

Time has just flown by since Alexis was born nearly 4 months ago and it's all been so amazing and worth every moment, yes, even through those sleepless nights! It seems like only yesterday when she absolutely hated tummy time and didn't want to do it at all. She would be face down, crying her little head off! But look at her now!

So, especially to all of you who have little babies and you've been thinking of getting photographs done... stop thinking! Feel free to call or email me through the website. I still have a few spaces left for January and February, including some during the week. You know better than anyone, just how fast they change and grow, so don't miss the opportunity of them looking so precious and wonderful.

Speak to you soon

Melinda

Welcome to my new blog and Sandra and Dave's Engagement Shoot.

With Christmas only days away, the year is quickly coming to an end....again!  I will be taking a short break at Christmas and the first week of January with my husband and baby girl, as it's her first Christmas which is very exciting to us. However, I will still be checking my emails and will also be available on my mobile to taking bookings for all weddings and portrait shoots.
Before I go, below are some recent photos from Sandra and Dave's engagement shoot at Eden Gardens. These Gardens are delightful with lots to do and see. There are many little hidden-away spots, but my favourite section is the garden terrace where the ceremony will be taking place, as it's an ideal place for a romantic wedding! I'm really looking forward to photographing this amazing couple's day, as they both really know how to have fun. Sandra, in particular, has been working hard and creatively to make her dream day all the more special.
So in the meantime, I hope you are lucky and you've brought all your presents by now and have made your New Year's resolutions. So wishing you a safe and wonderful Christmas with your friends and family and I look forward to what's around the corner for 2010.
